Chobits

Chobits is an interesting anime/manga. I have only seen the anime, so that's what I will be writing about. I apologize for any differences from the manga.

My overall impression of the anime was good -I liked it. I don't regret the hours I spent watching it, not a bit. At the end I felt... Fulfilled. And happy. Yeah, I suppose I will get to the plot, because I really don't know what else to write here...

Plot: Hideki Motosuwa is a "repeat" student, which means he failed the college exams and is taking a year to prepare for the retake. He goes to Tokyo to the retest school. He used to live in the country, so he didn't know much about the latest craze -- Persocoms. Persocoms are humanoid robots who are basically personal servants. Hideki finds a broken one lying in the trash. He gets her working again, but all she says is "Chii!" hence her name -- Chi. There is a definite mystery about her... Which is unraveled over the course of twenty-something episodes.

Pros: Plot(It's really interesting, how her {Chi's} mystery is unraveled) Ending (kinda predictable -but adorable, and with an unexpected and perfect twist!)

Cons: Comedy(the comedy itself isn't so bad, but there is way to much about how Hideki is obsessed with Playboy-esque stuff), stereotypes(the girls are all very stereotypical... It kinda got on my nerves :P)

I wouldn't watch this anime with the younger ones. There is a lot of risque talk and actions... But it isn't really that bad, and it is all in good fun, so I'd have to say it's really a 12+ sort of thing.

The whole thing is well-paced, with only a couple episodes that don't seem to related to the plot (except they are, even if it's only a little bit). The characters are handled well, and Hideki and Chi's romance is believable. Under the PG-13 comedy and stereotype filled world, this is a very sweet and touching anime! I recommend it to all you mature folks looking for a good laugh (and maybe cry).

Good luck, hope you like the anime! Tell me what you think/thought of it!
